BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor by Victron Energy

 The BMV-712 Smart is the leading battery monitor on the market today and compatible with all standard battery technology including LiFePO4 lithium batteries. The BMV-712 connects via built-in Bluetooth to the VictronConnect App on your phone (or tablet) and you can conveniently read out all monitored battery parameters, like state of charge, time to go, historical information and much more.

The BMV-712 Smart is equipped with Bluetooth, a VE.Direct port and a connection that can be used for: monitoring a second battery, midpoint monitoring or a temperature sensor.  Alternatively to BlueTooth, the BMV-712 Smart can be connected and be read by a Victron GX device via a VE.Direct cable.

The BMV-712 Smart is also VE.SmartNetwork compatible allowing it to wirelessly share information with other compatible Victron devices via a Bluetooth Smart network.

Very low current draw from the battery

Current consumption: 0,7Ah per month (1mA) @12V and 0,6Ah per month (0,8mA) @ 24V.  Especially Li-ion batteries have virtually no capacity left when discharged until low voltage shutdown. After shutdown due to low cell voltage, the capacity reserve of a Li-ion battery is approximately 1Ah per 100Ah battery capacity. The battery will be damaged if the remaining capacity reserve is drawn from the battery. A residual current of 10mA for example may damage a 200Ah battery if the system is left in discharged state during more than 8 days.

Easy to install

All electrical connections are to the quick connect PCB on the current shunt. The shunt connects to the monitor with a standard RJ12 telephone cable. Included: RJ 12 cable (10 m) and battery cable with fuse (2 m); no other components needed.  Also included are a separate front bezel for a square or round display appearance, a securing ring for rear mounting and screws for front mounting. 

The BMV-712 Smart includes a 500A shunt.  Other battery shunts (1000A, 2000A, 6000A, and 10000A) are available separately for systems with greater than 500A of current.

Wee Expert Tip - The SmartShunt is a good alternative for a Victron BMV series battery monitor, especially for systems where battery monitoring is needed but less wiring and clutter is wanted.
